Ardel’s Olly to represent Guernsey

Talented youngster Olly Langlois will join the Guernsey men’s team of Garry Dodd and Scott Romeril at the 2012 World Team Table Tennis Championships in Dortmund, Germany.

Olly who works in Ardel’s company secretarial department will be competing in the event which will be held from 25 March to 1 April 2012.

The Guernsey team has recently attained some good results, winning 7 out of 8 gold medals at the 2011 Island Games. At a higher level of competition the team reached the play offs for the British League, however narrowly missed promotion to the top division in the UK.  The World Championships is a big step up for the youthful side, nevertheless it will be great experience for them and of course gives them the much needed exposure to playing different players.

The World Team Table Tennis Championships is one of the biggest team competitions in the sport alongside the Olympics. It is mainly dominated by top Asian teams such as China and Japan but has seen a sudden increase in standard from European based nations.
