Crew Employment & Payroll Services

Our Crew Employment & Payroll Services Team are maritime employment specialists who can ensure full compliance with employers’ EU social security contribution requirements. They can provide;

  • Effective mitigation of employers’ EU social security liabilities
  • Removal of employment liabilities from the yacht owner
  • Crew contracts of employment fully compliant with all maritime employment legislation
  • Timely and efficient payment of salaries including multi‑currency functionality

The key social security liability triggers for EU employers are the following:

  • If the crew member is an EU resident and paid of employed from the same EU country
  • If a crew member, resident in an EU country, works on an EU registered vessel and is paid or employed from the country of registration
  • If the employee is resident in an EU country, the vessel is registered in an EU country and the the employee is paid an/or employed form an EU country

If any of the above scenarios apply to you as a yacht owner then EU Employment Regulations dictate the payment of Social Security Contributions. (EU Regulation 1408/71, as revised 883/2004 & 987/2009, effective May 2010).

In order to address this financial and administrative burden with Guernsey sitting enviably outside the EU, we have implemented the most practical and cost‑effective solutions to employing and paying crew.

Our solutions afford the elimination of EU employers’ social security liabilities, regardless of the seafarer’s country of residence and the vessel’s country of registration.
